POKOTABI / Hamashin

Choose from Hamashin’s recommended 12-piece sushi set, premium nigiri and daily grilled-fish set lunch. Each lunch set comes with miso soup, chawanmushi and salad, making it easy to match your meal to what you feel like eating.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
For lunch at Hamashin, sushi lovers can choose between the recommended 12-piece nigiri set, a generous serving, and the premium nigiri set, which also includes sea urchin and a sushi roll. One diner who ordered the recommended 12-piece set recalled nigiri topped with medium-fatty tuna, lean tuna, striped jack, horse mackerel, vinegared mackerel, conger eel and salmon roe, alongside pen shell and water octopus. They also noted how the vinegared rice gently came apart. The set includes miso soup, chawanmushi and salad.
On another visit, the same diner chose the premium nigiri set, which they said included fatty tuna, flounder, surf clam, conger eel, salmon roe, sea urchin and a negitoro roll. The premium option suits diners keen to try a roll and sea urchin gunkan, while those who value the number of nigiri can opt for the 12-piece set. The menu lists the recommended 12-piece set at ¥1,800 and the premium nigiri set at ¥2,000; both come with miso soup, chawanmushi and salad.
For something other than nigiri, the sashimi set meal, seafood chirashi and tekka-don (tuna rice bowl) are each ¥1,300, with miso soup, chawanmushi and salad. The menu says rice can be upgraded to a large serving at no extra charge with rice bowls, a useful option for a heartier lunch.
The daily grilled-fish set meal is also ¥1,300 and comes with miso soup, chawanmushi and salad. One visitor chose salmon and enjoyed it with a side of spear squid sashimi ordered while waiting for the fish to cook. In their account, the salmon was tender after being cooked slowly, and the meal also included clam miso soup and a small serving of chawanmushi. The restaurant notes that grilled fish takes a little time to prepare, so this may be a better choice when lunch need not be rushed.
Lunch is served on Mondays and from Friday to Sunday, from 11:30 to 14:00; the restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. One report from an evening visit noted that the restaurant was full. At lunch, diners can choose among nigiri, chirashi and grilled fish; for dinner, it may be worth considering a reservation before settling in for sushi and other dishes.
